Chile has one of the most ambitious long-term renewable energy goals, and renewables already make up over 43% of the country’s electrical generation. Hydro, solar and wind are the three most significant components of renewable power generation, with more solar and wind on the way. Since 2020, renewable sources in Chile have fulfilled 100% of Amerigo’s power needs. Amerigo’s MVC operation has long-term, low-cost power supply contracts until 2037. By committing to renewables, Amerigo has also helped foster the continued rollout of additional renewable sources designed to move Chile further from coal, the country’s historical baseline power generation fuel.
